Find the copyright free images for your project. These 19 sites release images with CC0 License and no attribution is required for commercial use. So stop worrying about paying royalties and get your project done!

Needless to say that images can make your projects beautiful and obviously more attractive. They present your design projects in a totally different way and without them, your hard work can go into waste. Whether you are a web designer, photographer, photo manipulator, and graphic designer, we always look for quality free stock images for our projects.

Common Questions:

  • What is CC0 License?
  • What is Copyright Free Image?
  • What is the Difference Between Royalty Free & Copyright Free?
  • Where I can Get Copyright Free Images?

What is Creative Commons Zero (CC0) License?

All below listed website provides images under the Creative Commons Zero license, which means you can use the images for commercial purpose and no attribution is required. In other words, do whatever you want to do with them without asking permission. You can read more about the license on Creative Commons Website.

So all the images which fall under the CC0 license are Copyright-Free. Therefore, you don’t need to worry about having to pay royalties every time you use the image.

What are Royalty Free Images?

Royalty-Free images are the images for which you’ve to pay a one-time fee for a varied set of rights. For example: let’s say that you want to use the image on your website (commercially), so you need to pay the license fee one time, then you can use the image on your website as long as you want. That simply means it is “Free of Royalty” not cost-free.

Now let’s say that you want to use the same image (for commercial purpose) in your video, then again you need to pay the royalty to get the image rights to use the image in your video. So each time you use the image for the different purpose, you need to pay royalty fee.

Difference between Royalty Free and Copyright Free images?

The difference is pretty much clear, Royalty Free means you pay for the license only once, then you can use the image forever within the accepted ways whereas Copyright Free means that you don’t need to pay any royalties every time you use the image for different purpose and these images are free for public even for commercial use. That’s why we have the CC0 License image’s sites in this post.

There are free pics on Dreamstime, but, I only got a set number, like maybe 10. That was it. Maybe I am missing something!

Bunty, I keep up a list of stock sites on my blog. I add one when I see one. I also try to keep it current. It’s at suruha.com. Look for Stock in the menu.

Thanks for this list! I even found one I did not know about! Cool!

Great resource – thank you. One thing to remember is that if you use a picture with a person, advertorial use will often require a separate release.

Another website I’ve also found helpful is Wunderstock. It’s a search engine for Creative Commons photos on Flickr:
    https://wunderstock.com/

It has an amazing selection. I’ll find free photos for many arcane subjects here as well as more generic stuff. I also use Pixabay and Compfight.
